Dental Bonding

Are you unhappy with the way your teeth look? Dental bonding is a simple way to restore chipped, discolored, or misshapen teeth. Whether you’ve nicked a tooth, have a gap in your teeth that you don’t appreciate, or want to build a small tooth up to size, dental bonding can make your teeth look like new.

A male patient looks over at his dental care staff with a giant smile after having had bonding work performed on him.

Benefits of Dental Bonding

Dental bonding can restore damaged teeth or enhance natural teeth for a beautiful smile. Bonding is an easy, affordable way to get the smile you’ve always wanted.

Bonding can be used to:

  • Change the color of your teeth
  • Reshape or build your teeth
  • Repair minimal damage

One of the benefits of dental bonding is that it is alterable. If you pursue more permanent forms of cosmetic dentistry, the bonding can be changed or removed.

How Dental Bonding Works

Dental bonding fixes material (a composite) to the enamel on your teeth. During the bonding process, our dentists will apply a resin to your tooth and give it the shape you want. The shade of the resin will match the color of your teeth. The dentist will harden the resin using an ultraviolet light once it has been molded to your tooth. After the resin has hardened, we will trim and polish the tooth so it looks and feels natural.

Caring For Your Bonding

Dental bonding can usually be completed in a single visit. Your bonding may chip or stain over time. Bonding lasts several years, but it’s not a forever fix. It will need to be touched up or replaced. To prolong the life of your bonding, you should avoid or limit the following activities:

  • Biting your nails
  • Chewing on ice
  • Drinking wine, coffee, and tea
  • Eating foods with dyes

Our dentists at Ukena Brandes Family Dental can help you restore your smile. With dental bonding, you will definitely want to show off those pearly whites.
